More than 25,000 tons of tool steels – ranging from standard quality all the way to customized special alloys – are kept permanently on hand in 50,000 square metres of warehouse space at facilities in Gummersbach and Reichshof-Wehnrath. All of the dimensions required are precisely cut to size using more than 85 band saws that are operated in three shifts.
EschmannStahl offers a wide spectrum of plastic mould steels, cold and hot work steels as well as high performance custom grades. Swift and cost effective processing of tool steels is every bit as important as selecting the correct steel quality for a particular application. In this respect, EschmannStahl deals its customers the trump cards with its powerful range of machinery. We use the very latest processing machines to form steel into the required shape. This is ideally complemented by the new heat treatment system, which consists of a vacuum chamber oven system as well as two vacuum tempering furnaces, one of which is equipped with a gas nitriding unit. This system allows EschmannStahl to cut several weeks off the processing time required to create tool shapes. As a result, the specialists from Gummersbach belong to a very select group of providers that can offer tool steel, premachining services and vacuum thermal treatment in line with demand from a single source. All in all, this comprehensive service offering creates key competitive advantages for our customers, who are thus in position to process their orders faster and more economically.
