ES Aktuell 1400 is quenched and tempered to 355–400 HB (38 – 42 HRC)
ES Aktuell 1400 is used as tool steel for press and injection molds, especially for large components such as bumpers, instrument panels, etc., and even as a material for prototype tools in aluminum die casting.
ES Aktuell 1400 offers a number of advantages over base materials such as 1.2738:
- significantly higher basic hardness and greatly improved through-hardening capability
- improved structural homogeneity through the reduction of block segregation
- polishing security even with increased requirements up to grain size 1,200
- grain security even with sensitive grain designs
- improved thermal conductivity, tempering resistance and weldability
- nitridable, flame & laser hardenable, hard chrome plating
- high basic hardness in the delivery state offers sufficient support for a PVD coating
